Love your site. I don't care about extra features like links to the feis
websites--I get that at feis411. I think what might be helpful is a
"tips on using Feisweb" tab where people can learn about the ctrl F
feature etc.
I LOVE the feis text idea. We spend hours sometimes waiting for champ
results and it would be nice to know approximately when results will be coming
so we can grab a bite to eat etc. I'd be willing to pay for that service,
preferably on a feis by feis basis (if that's easier for you). I might pay
$2 per feis. It's worth it not to stand there pestering volunteers.
I also like the suggestion to show when a feis is close to it's cap with both
paid and unpaid entries. That way I can slack off and not worry if I'm
going to miss a feis.
I would gladly pay $1.00 per text for the FeisText option. That should more than offset the cost. The only thing is, the organizers would have to get their acts together. The reason I think this is so necessary was highlighted at a feis I went to recently--they started out the day posting times for results, but as the day wore on, stopped posting and everyone was kind of on their own to keep running up and down the steps to check and see if they were close. No information was being given. Then, at the last second, I received a test from a friend who just happened to be in the room and they were announcing my dd's comp awards!! We literally had to run up the steps and get her dress on her in seconds. I am not the one who suggested the idea, but I think it is awesome, and would eliminate issues like this.
LOVE the "Feistext" idea that someone suggested!!!!
Note from Alan: I recently looked into this. To send texts this way requires an "SMS Gateway". The cost per text is between 2 and 5 cents each. The amount is minimal, but with the potential volume of texts, it could add up to a significant sum. I am hesitant to add even an optional subscription system to offset the cost. So the question is, what would a reasonable amount for a "texting" service from the website be? Consider the following:
1) Although it wouldn't help on Feis day, a free email notification service is planned for the upgrade. 2) Feis organizers would need to be responsible for sending the texts on Feis day. When things get hectic, that is kind of stuff that gets forgotten.
I like the suggestion of having the competitor numbers along with the names on the competitor list and how many are in a competition. I love this site, It's very fast and easy and the results are always posted on line very quickly.XXXXX website posts results days later ( if they post them at all) I've also noticed when we sign up for a feis on feisweb, when at the feis the results of dancers is posted in a quick and reasonable time. I've seen xxxxx take hours to post results
When a feis opens for reg. if an e-mail can be sent out. And if we can select, what feis we would like to know when the registation is open.
Here is my comment. On xxxxxxx, I can look up what dances I registered
my son for at individual feis'. It is helpful, since if I am in a hurry,
hit the wrong button or register several months early to make sure I have a
spot, I can look back and confirm that I registered the correct dances and
levels before the deadline so I don't have to pay an extra fee.
I've looked and looked and I can not find a button to look and see what dances I
paid for for at the Culkin Feis.
The family page allows me to update our information, but does not let me access
what I have registered them for.
This is my favorite feis registration site. I would love it if you could add the competitor # to the list of competitors. even if you had to wait until entries closed.
when you click on the feis u r signed up for directions and stage schedule would be nice as well as what u r danceing!
Another thought: we receive xxxxx emails notifying us of upcoming Feiseianna. That's a nice service, but it would be even better if the email Subject line included the city/date. Like: "CULKIN FEIS, Boyds, MD, 11/7/2010"
Hi, alan. Wish there was some sort of spread sheet for keeping track of dancer's competitions, scores, advancements/levels, etc. Thanks.
Just an idea for the future maybe...I want to call it Feis text...you register you cell # when signing up and a text is sent to notify competition is about to be awarded...could be a good idea or lead to disaster...just want to share my thought... or as I like to call it..."life altering brilliant idea"...
(Note from Alan: Not necessarily a website idea, but I am open and interested to any ideas related to the system!)
i know you've heard it before but: 'tab' for feis registered when registering 'tabs' for levels is great (reading the whole long list can get overwhelming) past results total registered so we can see how close to the cap a feis is a credit card option that is not payola would be great (they are not my fav. company) i know you added registered dancers (does it tell us how many danced?) i LOVE the emailed results, wish all feis would just go electronic and LOVE the emailed dancer's card too!
Could you please add how many in each dance for Feis? ie: Slip Jig, 23 registered/21 danced. Esp for beginner/advanced beginner/novice category. Who are/were the judges for each dance? I am in this 3 years now, and still do not know a single judge yet! I have come to depend on your clear/concise and prompt scores via email. Please do not change this one
Only one suggestion... Is it possible to add a "How Many Are Registered" counter to each feis registration page? So that in a quick glance, you can tell how close to the cap each feis is? Other than that -- great job.
I love your site and how easy it is to navigate. I would like to be able to see what feisanna my dancer is currently registered for and maybe even a history of which she has done and results all in one quick look.
what i really like about feisweb results, is that you show total irish points, please keep that feature oh, and what i really love, is that I can look up a several years of a feis, love that. and finally I really like that you show who the judges were in results. I think your website is terrific, and refer to it often.
- paypal option would be nice - historical dancer results with comments from judges (similar to xxxxxxxx) - not sure if there is a way bit it would be nice if the website could list the dancers current level (that may be too much but is helpful when registering for a new feis) - with the current feiseanna list the location of the feis would be helpful as not everyone knows exactly the name of each feis Site is fine but could be improved visually and technically. The whole focus should be on making it easy for people to find information and register.
I'm new to the website. I know you are asking for ideas.J I think links to Irish associations or magazines and also direct links to schools that are holding the Feis would be great (especially for new parents to Irish Dancing.it's confusing!) I like the dancer history idea, how many dancers are in each competition or listed by school.
Your site is my favorite to use for feis registration. I too would love to see results posted for PC and OCs consistently. It would be nice to have a member page that showed previous registered feis (with a link to the results, or listing result next to the feis name) and and upcoming registered feis with the competition number listed. Direct link to the feis syllabus from entry page for every feis would be so very helpful!
It's a great site; however, there are a few things I would like to see if possible... 1. my child's historical results so it's easy to keep track of 2. paypal link is awesome for quick and easy payment 3. a quick link to see how many other dances are in the upcoming competition we registered for 4. a quick link to the sponsoring school's website
I think it would be great when the upgrade is done, if you could view Feis entries by school name or event numbers, so the competitors can see who else from their school is competing and/or they can see how many/who else is competing in the same events.
I would like to be able to sort the feis entry list by school or event instead of only last name. I also would like alert e-mails (or maybe Feisweb on Twitter) when new competitions are listed or changed. Otherwise, the site is simple and well designed...very user friendly.
An email system alerting possible dancers to upcoming open Feis'.
Would it be possible to have my dancer's results listed for each feis on her member homepage? That would make it easy to keep track of how she places.
Hi - A suggestion I have is that when you send out a reminder to pay for the feis that we entered on FeisWeb, to also include a link to the website. Even better if you had a link to the actual entry. Love the PayPal option.
Thanks for asking for suggestions as you design a FeisWeb upgrade. Your site is great as it is. I agree with some of the other suggestions people have made - e.g. e-mails when a feis is open. My suggestion - can you make a results page so it's easier to access results for past feiseanna? Also, grade results are great when available!
I would like to have it easier to link to the school hosting the feis. Also sometimes it seems I have to go to many pages to find the address just before going to the feis to map it out.
Please make all feisanna make Paypal an option for payment. It is so much easier than writing a check and mailing it.
I think your website is great but if you are making changes here are my suggestions: Posting the grade level results (I know you have been but not consistently). Include the syllabus and stage schedule when available with the registration info (not just a link to the school's website). Have the number of dancers registered for each competition. Post a warning when the feis is close to reaching it's cap.
Put some kind of notice in to let us know that a feis is near cap. Also a way to be able to see how many are registered in a particular dance (like xxxxx does).
It was not intuitively obvious and not in the FAQ "How do I register" It should mention that after your dancer is registered on the FeisWeb home page, click on the Feis that you are entering and then you pay from there.
Would love to be able to tag feis listings to receive a notification when the feis registration opens - would really be helpful!!
I agree with the last suggestion. I'm fine with your website. The only thing I would like is email reminders when new feiseanna are open for registration. Thanks.
I love the way the site is set up, just as it is, but I would LOVE it if emails could be sent out when new feiseanna are open for registration! I've missed one or two because some fill up so quickly, and I often forget to check to see what's open.
We actually like it just the way it is. Simple and easy to use and read.. No changes necessary!!! it's the easiest to use of all the sites, like xxxxxxxx and xxxxx.
If you have the words "_IAA of NW NJ Feis 2010 - 9/12/2010_ (http://feisweb.com/member/Feis_Entry.asp?Feis=INJ10) Piping, Drumming, and Band Competitions Must Enter By Mail. See Syllabus For Details." Then there should be a visible link, so I can click on the Syllabus.
I saw that Western Ct (Gray), Sheahan Gormley and McDonald Ashford feis had grade levels results posted. It would be nice for all the feisanna to post grade levels along with Prelim and Open.
You asked for website ideas. It would be super cool if our log in information was linked to your lovely schedule so if we are registered in a feis already, It would show up in an additional column, as in registered, yes/no. Just dreaming. It would be cool too if our results from the said feis showed up in it afterwards, Even if it only was PC and OC's.
Just an idea. . .could we sign up to get an email message the day a requested feis opens for registration? Thanks!
